Schubert Chokecherry
(Prunus virginiana ‘Schubert’)

Schubert Chokecherry leaves emerge with a bright green color in the spring, but change into a deep reddish purple color for the summer and fall.  The tree has an upright oval to pyramidal shape and is usually single stemmed. White elongated flower clusters appear in May, which form edible black fruits later in the season.  Schubert chokecherry is beneficial for wildlife but may have problems with suckering and black knot disease.
